Award of Excellence

Each year, we present a number of awards of excellence in fine crafts at the Salon des métiers d’art du Québec to honour participating artisans and highlight their extraordinary work, unbounded creativity and unrivalled craftsmanship.

  • We present these awards:
    - The Award of Excellence recognizes the outstanding work of an artisan with more than five years of professional experience. This award includes a $2,500 scholarship from the Desjardins Caisse de la Culture.
    - The Jean-Cartier Award to Pay Tribute to Young Talent is awarded to an artisan with less than five years of professional experience. This award includes a $1,000 scholarship from Assurart.
    - The Visual Presentation Award (Loft & Stand) reward artisans who stand out for the layout of their space at the Salon des métiers d'art. These awards include two $500 scholarships from the Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal.
    - The purpose of the First Appearance Award, which is presented by the Institut des métiers d’art, is to support an artisan who has recently graduated from one of the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal's fine crafts programs. The winner receives a $1,000 scholarship.
